NBA 2020 Election: Olumide Akpata wins the Office of the President

Olumide Akpata has emerged as the new president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA). He won with a total of 9,892 votes defeating Julius Oladele Adeshina, SAN and Dr. Babatubde Ajibade, SAN, FCIARB who polled 3,982 and 4,328 votes respectively. This was declared at the conclusion of the online National Officers election conducted by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) between 29th and 30th July 2020.

A total of 18256 valid ballots were submitted of 29636 accredited voters. 10 positions were contested for in the elections with 39321 eligible voters.

The election result was announced by the Chairman of the ECNBA, Tawo  E. Tawo, SAN as follows:

OFFICE OF ASSISTANT SECRETARY: Nwadialo, Esther Uchenna won the election with 7, 314 votes defeating Agi, Anne Uruegi who scored 7067 votes, and Osagie, Aigbokhai Oaikhena, who pulled 3040  votes.

WELFARE SECRETARY: Edun, Olukunle won the election with 9,001 votes defeating Anyia, Sabastine Abuo, who scored 7620 votes.

OFFICE OF PUBLICITY SECRETARY: Nduka, Rapuluchukwu Ernest won the election with 11,965 votes, defeating Sokoya, Olayinka Ayodeji, who scored 4,998.

OFFICE OF FINANCIAL SECRETARY: Anagor, Raphael Nnamdi emerges unopposed with 15, 825 votes.

OFFICE OF TREASURER: Mercy, Ijato Agada emerged unopposed with 15, 488 votes.

OFFICE OF GENERAL SECRETARY: Oduah, Joyce won the election with 8,980 votes defeating Muoka, Alexander Nduka, who scored 5965, Ohagba, Okey Leo with 2510 votes, and Yakemewerigha, Christopher Opute, who pulled 487 votes.

OFFICE OF 2ND VICE PRESIDENT: Adeyemo, Kazeem Debo won the election with 8,794 votes defeating Abimbola, Adesola Sunday, who pulled 6649.

OFFICE OF THE 1ST VICE PRESIDENT: John O. Aikpokpo-Martins won the election with a total of 6,010 votes, defeating Sulayman, Dawud Adamu, who scored 2039, Ajoba, Oluwaseun Ezekiel, who had 1231 votes, Akinlade, Adebayo Ademola, with 2186 votes, Adetunji, Adedotun Habeeb who recorded 1749 votes and Siyonbola Ganiyat Adetutu who pulled 4098 votes.

OFFICE OF ASST. PUBLICITY SECRETARY: Naza, Ferdinand Afam won the election with 6,490 votes defeating Aigbokhan President E., who scored 2692 votes, Ajiboye Charles Olawale, who recorded 5752 votes, and Ochenehi Dominic Sunday, who pulled 1858 votes.

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT: Olumide Akpata won the election with a total of 9,892 votes defeating Julius Oladele Adeshina, SAN and Dr. Babatubde Ajibade, SAN, FCIARB who scored polled 3,982 and 4,328 votes respectively.
